Ishan Kishan has been included in India’s final squad for the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) after KL Rahul was ruled out due to a thigh injury. Kishan has been included in the team as the back-up wicketkeeper to KS Bharath. The final of the second edition of the ICC World Test Championship will be played from June 7 to 11 at The Oval in London with a reserve day. Rahul suffered a right thigh injury while fielding during the IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 1 May. Kishan and KS Bharath are the two wicketkeepers in the team.
India’s injury woes may not end here as the Board of Control for Cricket in India has given a worrying update on the two star fast bowlers. Both the fast bowlers had suffered injuries during the ongoing 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). Jaydev Unadkat injured his left shoulder after slipping on the side rope while bowling in the nets. A specialist consultation has been sought and the left-arm fast bowler is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru undergoing strength and rehab sessions for his shoulder. Umesh Yadav suffered a minor left hamstring injury during Match 36 of Tata IPL 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26.
