Warner was dismissed without opening the account in the first innings of the opening Test against South Africa in Brisbane, while he scored three runs in the second innings. Prior to this Test, he had scores of 5, 48, 21 and 28 in four innings of the current season.

Australia’s experienced batsman David Warner, who has been struggling to find his rhythm for some time, has been advised by some former players to retire from Test cricket but his agent (representative) said that it is time for the aggressive opener to say goodbye to the longest format of the game. No plans to say. Warner was dismissed without opening the account in the first innings of the opening Test against South Africa in Brisbane, while he scored three runs in the second innings. Prior to this Test, he had scores of 5, 48, 21 and 28 in four innings of the current season.

He scored his last Test century in January 2020. Warner’s agent James Erskine said he does not believe the opener will quit Test cricket at the conclusion of the three-Test series against the Proteas in Sydney. ‘No, it won’t be his last Test, I don’t think,’ Erskine was quoted as saying by ‘Sydney Morning Herald’. If so, then it is news to me.” Erskine said Warner is eyeing a tour of India next year and an Ashes series in England.

Warner will become the 14th player for Australia to reach the milestone of 100 Tests by playing the Boxing Day Test (starting on 26 December). He averages less than 21 in 10 Tests this year but Erskine believes the 36-year-old will be on his way to big innings very soon. He said, “I think runs are going to come off Warner’s bat.” Apart from cricket, he is interested in many other things but he never did any such (retirement).
