Half-centuries from skipper Manoj Tiwary and Anustup Majumdar helped Bengal beat Uttar Pradesh by six wickets in their Ranji Trophy Group A match here on Friday. Tiwary scored an unbeaten 60 while Majumdar scored 83. With this, Bengal scored 259 runs for four wickets and scored six points. After Majumdar’s dismissal, Tiwary teamed up with Shahbaz Ahmed to take the team to the target. On the other hand, Uttarakhand defeated Nagaland by 174 runs in Sovima. The Nagaland team was dismissed for only 25 runs in the second innings. Mayank Mishra took five wickets for four runs while Swapnil Singh took four wickets for 21 runs from Uttarakhand. Earlier, Uttarakhand had declared its second innings ended after scoring 306 runs for seven wickets. The match played between Odisha and Saurashtra in Bhubaneswar ended in a draw.
In reply to Odisha’s 457, Baroda scored 624 for eight wickets. Shashwat Rawat (135), Priyanshu Moliya (118) and Abhimanyu Rajput (102) scored centuries from his side. Himachal Pradesh won the bonus point by defeating Haryana by an innings and 88 runs in the Group-A match played at Rohtak. Haryana’s team was dismissed for 46 runs in the first innings, in response to which Himachal declared their first innings by scoring 487 runs for four wickets. Haryana’s team got out after scoring 353 runs in the second innings.
