Ayush Badoni scored 43 in 24 balls and Nicholas Pooran scored 45 in 19 balls. In response, the Punjab team was dismissed for 201 runs in 19.5 overs. Atharva Tayde scored 66 off 36 balls, his first fifty in IPL.

On the back of aggressive innings of Kyle Myers and Marcus Stoinis, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Punjab Kings by 56 runs in an IPL match on Friday after scoring the second highest score in the history of IPL. Myers scored 54 off 24 balls in the Powerplay, while Stoinis scored 72 off 40 balls, on which Lucknow scored 257 for five. Ayush Badoni scored 43 off 24 balls and Nicholas Pooran scored 19. Scored 45 runs in the ball. In response, the Punjab team was dismissed for 201 runs in 19.5 overs. Atharva Tayde scored 66 off 36 balls, his first fifty in IPL.

Liam Livingstone (36 runs in 22 balls) and Sikandar Raza (23 runs in 14 balls) however could not play well. Captain Shikhar Dhawan returned after three matches but could play only two balls. Young fast bowler Yash Thakur took four wickets for 37 runs in four overs. This was Lucknow’s fifth win in eight matches while Punjab’s fourth loss in eight matches. Punjab’s score at one stage was 152 for four in 15 overs but scoring 106 runs in the last five overs was almost impossible. Earlier, Dhawan won the toss and decided to bowl which proved wrong. Except for Rahul Chahar, all six of their bowlers conceded runs at an average of more than ten runs per over.

In-form Arshdeep Singh gave away 54 runs in four overs. Kagiso Rabada conceded 52 runs in four overs though he got two wickets. This is the second highest score in the history of IPL. The record for the highest score is in the name of Royal Challengers Bangalore who scored 263 runs in 2013 with the help of Chris Gayle’s 175 runs. Only Lucknow captain KL Rahul could not walk on the batsmen’s favorite pitch and was dismissed after scoring 12 runs in nine balls.

He also got a life on the first ball of the match off Gurnoor Brar but he could not take advantage of it. Myers hit Arshdeep for four fours in the very first over. He hit seven fours and four sixes in his innings. After the dismissal of Myers, Stoinis and Badoni added 89 runs in 47 balls. Stoinis hit five sixes and six fours in his innings. Lucknow scored 73 runs in the last six overs. Stoinis would have been out in the 13th over but Liam Livingstone touched the boundary in an attempt to take a catch at long-on.
