In the lower middle order, Tilak Verma (26 off 22 balls) and Nihal Wadhera (23 off 12 balls) played useful innings to take the team’s score beyond 180 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq was the most successful bowler for the Supergiants who took four wickets for 38 runs. Yash Thakur played well with him and took three wickets for 34 runs. Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first but he was caught by Ayush Badoni at extra cover off Naveen-ul-Haq after the opposition captain Krunal Pandya hit a six and a four in the over. He scored 11 runs. Ishan Kishan (15) opened the account with a four off Krunal’s first ball of the match but the spinner dropped his catch on the next ball.

Ishan then welcomed Krishnappa Gautam with two consecutive fours. Cameron Green, the centurion of the previous match, started with two fours on Naveen but Yash Thakur had Ishan caught by wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran in his second ball. Suryakumar, running in good form, hit Yash for a six as soon as he came. Green hit three fours in Krunal’s over as the team scored 62 for two in the power play. Suryakumar and Green kept the run rate going in the middle overs. Both hit sixes in Mohsin Khan’s over. Suryakumar completed the team’s century in the 11th over with a four on Naveen.
