La Liga: Atlético overtakes Real Madrid to reach second place

Antoine Griezmann scored twice in the first half, while Alvaro Morata, Yannick Carrasco and Nahuel Molina each scored in the second half to give Atlético their 12th win in 14 league games.

Madrid. Atletico Madrid beat Cadiz 5-1 to replace Real Madrid in second place in the Spanish Football League La Liga. Antoine Griezmann scored twice in the first half, while Alvaro Morata, Yannick Carrasco and Nahuel Molina each scored in the second half to give Atlético their 12th win in 14 league games.

With five rounds of matches remaining in the league, Atlético’s team is one point ahead of Real Madrid. Atlético now have 69 points from 33 matches while Real Madrid have 68 points from the same number of matches. Barcelona is on top with 82 points from 33 matches.
