Krunal took responsibility for the defeat against Mumbai Indians

Lucknow Supergiants captain Krunal Pandya took the responsibility of their 81-run defeat against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League Eliminator match here on Wednesday. Chasing Mumbai’s target of 183 runs, the Supergiants team was reduced to 101 runs in 16.3 overs in front of the sharp bowling of Madhwal (five wickets for five runs). Apart from Marcus Stoinis (40), no other batsman of the Supergiants could play well. Three batsmen of the team were run out. Mumbai had earlier scored 182 for eight thanks to fine innings from Cameron Green (41) and Suryakumar Yadav (33) and a 38-ball 66-run partnership between the two.

Tilak Verma (26 off 22 balls) and Nihal Wadhera (23 off 12 balls) played useful innings. The Supergiants team was in a good position by scoring 69 runs for two wickets but after that Krunal lost his wicket by playing a bad shot off Piyush Chawla and then the team lost wickets continuously. Krunal admitted that he should not have played that shot.

He said after the match, “We were in a really good position. Everything started when I played that shot… Should not have played that shot and I take the blame completely on myself. Krunal said there was no problem with the wicket, just his team not batting well. Was able to He said, “The wicket played equally in both the innings. We just had to bat better.” On the decision not to play Quinton Dickock in this match, Krunal said, “Kyle (Myers) had a better record here (than Dickock). We just figured we might go with Kyle.
