Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Ankit Sharma (one wicket for eight runs) after scoring 51 runs. Karnataka kept the pressure on the Puducherry batsmen from the start after winning the toss and opting to bowl.

Vidwat Kaverappa (4/52) and Vijaykumar Vaishakh (3/39) bowled brilliantly to help Karnataka bundle out Puducherry for 170 in their first innings on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match on Tuesday. But strengthened his position by scoring 111 runs. Ravikumar Samarth was unbeaten on 59 at stumps for the eight-time champions while ‘Nightwatchmatch’ Ronit More is yet to score.

Apart from Kaverappa and Vaishakh, Ronit (2/34) and leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal (1/5) were also successful bowlers. Captain Damodaran Rohit scored the highest 44 runs for Puducherry.

Of. Arvind and Sridhar Ashwath also contributed 20-20 runs. However, the entire team could bat only 54 overs. In response, Samarth and captain Mayank shared a 111-run partnership to give the team a great start. Mayank, however, got out in the last over of the day. In the second match of Group C being played in Jaipur, Indian batsman Deepak Hooda scored 133 runs in 187 balls, Rajasthan scored 310 runs for five wickets against Kerala. Salman Khan (62 not out) and Yash Kothari (58) also played half-century innings for the team.

In Jamshedpur, Jharkhand scored 280 for four against Goa on the first day. Saurabh Tiwary (65 not out) and Kumar Kushagra (60 not out) were at the crease at stumps. Both have made an unbroken partnership of 129 runs for the fifth wicket. In the other group match, Chhattisgarh bowled Ravi Kiran (5/44) out for 213 in New Delhi. At the end of the day’s play, Chhattisgarh were nine without loss.
