IPL teams trying to woo six English cricketers by offering huge amount

The top six IPL teams are trying to persuade six England star players to give up international cricket and play in the year-long T20 league, with contracts of up to £5 million being offered. This was claimed in the report of ‘Times London’. Almost all ten IPL teams have franchises in various leagues including CPL (Caribbean League), South Africa T20, Global T20 League (UAE) and the upcoming Major League (USA). However, the names of the franchisees and players have not been disclosed in the report.

‘The Times’ said, “Six England players have been approached by IPL team owners and asked whether they are agreeable in principle to the Indian team replacing the ECB or English counties as their principal employer.” Initial rounds of talks have taken place.” It further said, “After this, discussions have started in players’ associations around the world as to what will be the outcome of the 12-month franchise contract. Will cricket adopt the football model where key players are signed with a team and released from time to time to play international football or vice versa.’ The newspaper also spoke to an Australian T20 expert claimed to be in talks.
