IPL 2023: Lucknow suffered a big loss due to a mistake by captain Krunal Pandya, lost to Mumbai in the Eliminator match

In the Eliminator match of IPL 2023, Lucknow Supergiants have lost to Mumbai Indians by 81 runs. With this, Lucknow has been out of the playoffs for the second time in a row. The Lucknow Super Giants were captained by Krunal Pandya in the absence of KL Rahul. Although, Krunal Pandya made many mistakes in this match, but one mistake is being discussed a lot. Mumbai Indians will take on Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 after this win. Krunal Pandya kept a big player like Quinton de Kock out of his team in an important match. LSG left out De Kock and went with only 3 foreign players in the starting XI and used Kyle Mayers as their later impact sub.

The IPL started well for Kyle Mayers but later he looked out of form. Talking about the last five matches, Meyers scored only 82 runs, while de Kock scored 143 runs in just 4 matches. This move of Krunal Pandya is being criticized a lot. He also kept his point regarding this. He said that it is always a difficult decision to drop Quinton, he is a world class batsman. He also said that Kyle (Myers) had a better record here (compared to Dickock). We just figured we might go with Kyle. Pandya took the responsibility of the 81-run defeat against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match of the Indian Premier League.

The Supergiants team was in a good position by scoring 69 runs for two wickets but after that Krunal lost his wicket by playing a bad shot off Piyush Chawla and then the team lost wickets continuously. Krunal admitted that he should not have played that shot. He said after the match that we were in a really good position. It all started when I played that shot… shouldn’t have played that shot and I take the blame entirely on myself. Krunal said there was no problem with the wicket, it was just that his team didn’t bat well. He said that the wicket played the same in both the innings. We just had to bat better.
