Sarre tweeted, “Hashim Amla has said goodbye to all forms of cricket. He has announced the end of his career. We thank them on behalf of Surrey.

Surrey. Legendary South African batsman Hashim Amla has retired from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to his illustrious career spanning over two decades. The 39-year-old Amla, who retired from international cricket four years ago, confirmed this to English county team Surrey. Sarre tweeted, “Hashim Amla has said goodbye to all forms of cricket. He has announced the end of his career. We thank them on behalf of Surrey.

Amla played 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20 matches, scoring 18672 runs for South Africa. He is the first and only South African batsman to score a triple century in Tests. He scored an unbeaten 311 against England at The Oval in July 2012. Amla will now serve as the batting coach of Mumbai Indians Cape Town in the South Africa T20 league.
