Hardik said Pant’s presence would have made a difference

Rishabh Pant’s absence will certainly have a huge impact on the Indian team’s balance but India’s new captain in the T20 format, Hardik Pandya, is currently wishing his teammate a ‘speedy recovery’. Pant had a narrow escape when his luxury car caught fire after hitting a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the early hours of Friday. He was going to Roorkee to ‘surprise’ his mother. He has been shifted from the ICU of Max Hospital to the private ward after his condition improved.
A serious knee and ankle injury will keep him out of action for at least six months. When Hardik was asked about Pant, he wished a speedy recovery to the wicket-keeper batsman who single-handedly turned the tide of the match. He said on the eve of the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka starting on Tuesday, “What happened is very unfortunate. Nobody had any control over it and as a team we wish him (Pant) a speedy recovery. Our prayers are always with him. We wish him a speedy recovery.
On Pant’s importance in the team, Hardik said, “Obviously he is a very important player but now everyone knows what the situation is.” It would have made a lot of difference if Pant was there in the team. His absence is something we cannot control.” The skipper wants the players who are getting opportunities in Pant’s absence to take full advantage of them. He said, “There are many people who can get opportunities. Let’s see what the future has in store for us and move forward with it.
