DCW notice to Delhi Police on online trolling of Shubman Gill’s sister

The Delhi Commission for Women has given a notice to the Delhi Police seeking registration of an FIR against those who trolled, abused, threatened to rape and kill cricketer Shubman Gill’s sister. In the last league match of the IPL, with the help of Gill’s century, Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore and were eliminated from the tournament. After that match, Gill and his sister were subjected to constant trolling on various social media platforms.
The commission said in the notice, “These posts written for Shubman Gill’s sister on social media platforms Twitter and Instagram are obscene, threatening and derogatory.” She is also being threatened with rape and death which is criminal.” It further said that this is a very serious issue and immediate action needs to be taken. Commission chief Swati Maliwal shared the notice on Twitter and asked the Delhi Police to inform about the action taken by May 26.
