Women karate players of Chhattisgarh’s Gorela Pendra Marwahi (GPM) district have accused the president of the state karate association of using obscene language and pressurizing them to choose different coaches. Officials said that District Commissioner Priyanka Rishi Mahobia has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. The players have also accused the general secretary of the karate association of threatening their parents and pressurizing them to withdraw their complaint.
A complaint has been given to the commissioner stating that several tribal students are taking training from karate trainer Ashok Verma under the government’s Rani Laxmibai self-defense scheme. He alleged that Sushil Chandra, president of Chhattisgarh Karate Association, is pressurizing him to take training from Manoj Yadav and Pawan Kashyap, office bearers of GPM District Karate Association. The players alleged that he was using porn on the phone.
The players also submitted a memorandum to the Bilaspur commissioner on Monday, claiming that Chandra and state karate association general secretary Avinash Shetty called their parents to an eatery on Ratanpur Kota Road and asked them to withdraw the complaint. Earlier, Yadav and Kashyap had filed a complaint against Verma. Verma termed the allegations leveled against him as baseless.
