Australia women’s team scores big with Perry’s second consecutive half-century innings

Experienced Ellyse Perry scored an unbeaten 72 off 42 balls as Australia women’s team scored a mammoth 188 for three against India in the fourth T20 International of the five-match series here on Sunday. Apart from hitting seven fours and four sixes in his innings, Perry shared a 59-ball 94-run partnership with Ashleigh Gardner for the third wicket. Gardner scored 42 runs in 27 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes. In the last over, Grace Harris played an aggressive inning of 27 runs in just 12 balls. Australia’s batsmen hit 19 fours and eight sixes in this match.

Captain Alyssa Healy retired Hart due to a hamstring strain after scoring 30 off 21 balls. Deepti Sharma was the most successful bowler for India, taking two wickets for 35 runs in four overs. Radha Yadav achieved a breakthrough by giving 26 runs in three overs. Captain Healy once again gave the team an aggressive start after being invited to bat first. She hit two fours each against Renuka Singh in the first over and Anjali Sarwani in the second over.

Deepti Sharma, who came to bowl in the fourth over, gave the first success to the Indian team by dismissing Beth Mooney (two runs). Perry completed his half-century in 33 balls by hitting the last ball of the over for a six.

Deepti broke the 94-run partnership in the 17th over by getting Gardner caught by Harleen Deol near the long-on boundary. Grace Harris, who came to the crease, kept the pressure on the Indian bowlers by hitting three fours in the first four balls. He hit fours and sixes in consecutive balls against Anjali in the 19th over. Perry, who had scored 75 in the previous match, hit two consecutive sixes against Deepti in the last over to take the Root team to the biggest score of the series.
